So here it is! My favorite smoothie ever. It’s rich, chocolatey, indulgent, and somehow healthy. It’s packed with healthy carbs, potassium, iron, magnesium, and fiber. Not to mention that cacao nibs have plenty of antioxidants!
I figured out this smoothie recipe one time when all I really wanted was a milkshake, but I also wanted it to be healthy! It’s super quick to make, and all I do is throw all the ingredients in my Nutribullet!
You can make this smoothie with room temperature ingredients if that’s your style, or if you like a colder, frothier smoothie you can freeze the bananas before eating. I think it’s creamier if you freeze your bananas, but I couldn’t tell you the science behind that at all. Either way, enjoy!
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1/2 avocado
- a big handful of spinach
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract
Blend all of that until smooth and then top with chopped cacao! The dates make it super sweet, and even though the raw cacao tastes bitter by itself, the dates make it taste just like dark chocolate!
